When I was 15 years old, I knew I wanted to open my own gymnastics school. My parents started American Gymnastics Academy in 1989, and 29 years later, it still thrives in Southern California. It was their leadership and guidance that inspired me to extend the family business. The strength and dedication gymnastics requires has always brought a positive element to my life, and I want to share this within my community. I was a competitive gymnast for 15 years, a recreational and team coach for 16 years, and a manager for 5 years. My experiences have taught me that gymnastics is much more than a sport, it’s a lifestyle.

Gymnastics teaches you the meaning of dedication, perseverance, and excellence. Many of our retired athletes have returned years later and said “AGA taught me how to be strong even when life got tough. I’m such a better person because of my time spent in the gym.” At AGA, we believe the physical aspects of gymnastics are a small piece of the large puzzle. Teaching a child how to overcome fears and continue to have a positive attitude is a lesson that will support them throughout their life. Our club dedicates a great deal of our training to prepare children for their gymnastics skills as well as teaches them how to be a well adjusted person.

The question I asked myself when we started thinking about a Washington location, was “What do we want to accomplish?”

The answer is simple.

I want every single child to fall in love with this sport. I want every child to feel like AGA Northwest is their second home, and it’s a safe place where they can express themselves through the art of gymnastics. Whether they are a beginner or advanced, I want every child to feel important and special. I want them to thrive, and I want them to learn how to fall down, and pick themselves up. I want them to feel strong and confident. I want our students to be respectful and honest. I want to create an environment that I’m proud to raise my daughter in.

I eat, sleep, and dream gymnastics…and opening this gym was definitely part of my dreams. AGA Northwest is not just a place for gymnastics, it’s a place for children to feel good and have fun!
